Chocolate malt is malted barley that's been kilned to produce a rich brown color. Pale Chocolate Malt is less highly-roasted than regular chocolate malt and paler in color. It will add a dark brown color and mild chocolate/coffee and roasted nutty flavors to dark milds, stouts, and porters.
Instructions:
Add crushed grain to mash of all-grain beer, or use 'tea bag' method with extract beer--add grains to cold water at beginning, heat, and strain out before boiling.
Tech Data:
Color 185-250 deg L Use up to 20% of batch; 1/2-1lb per 5 gal is typical. Does not require mashing. Adds about .006/lb/5gal to gravity.
