Chocolate malt is malted barley that's been kilned to produce a rich brown color. Darkens beer and adds roasted nutty flavor. Used most often in porters, brown ales, some stouts and dunkels.
Instructions:
Add crushed grain to mash of all-grain beer, or use 'tea bag' method with extract beer--add grains to cold water and beginning, heat, and strain out before boiling.

Color 400-488 L Use up to 20% of batch; 1/2-1lb per 5 gal is typical. Does not require mashing. Adds about .006/lb/5gal to gravity.
