Two row barley grown exclusively in England since the 1960s, it is known for its distinctive malty flavor and good mashing and fermentation characteristics. A cross between the spring barley Proctor and the winter variety Pioneer, it has been recognized for many years as a great malt for ale brewing, though it can also make distinctive lager styles.
